06 Jan 2008: Bolton Wanderers 1-7 Lisbon St Antonys (HT 0-3) (Friendly)

Today we played our first big name friendly (Bolton Wanderers) at their own ground, we knew we were in for a tough game, especially after the 14 - 1 win against Altrincham the day before.

The whole team played well today, with Hanifa winning the girl of the match award, and scoring the best (Thierry Henry style) goal. Instead of doing the usual match report, I thought I would take this opportunity to do a quick evaluation of the team.

1. Ria, two clean sheets while in goal, and eight goals in two matches. Fantastic performance this weekend. Ria was totally amazing in front of goal this weekend, always taking her time before placing the ball in the opponents net. 10 out of 10 (star player) (dodgy attitude at times)

2. Aphra, two great performances, especially against Bolton, difficult to beat for pace and strength, and a goal line clearance as well.

3. Finney, once again had two solid performances, Finney is a great asset to the team playing well every game. A very versatile player who’s able to perform in many different positions.

4. Laura (loo), it was best I’ve ever seen her play against Bolton, very solid, winning every tackle, just needs to look up before playing final ball. (My player of the match for the Bolton game.)

5. Hanaan, Great against Altringham, solid and strong, another good solid player with a great will to win. Only a slight cameo performance against Bolton, and out of position, but still played well.

6. Bethany, very solid against Altringham, only substituted due to feeling ill, slight cameo against Bolton, played well.

7. Fred, very solid all season, most versatile player on the team, great goal scorer. Very calm in front of goal, quick feet, very brave. Fred is the team captain, enough said.

8. Robyn, is defiantly turning out to be one of the best players this season. Awesome performance against Bolton, confident on the ball and unlucky not to score on the day. Couldn’t be happier, her fitness level has increased by at least 20%. Well done.

9. Hanifa, the team captain for the friendly cup, extremely skilful on the ball, great desire to win and an amazing fitness level. Finally scoring more goals this season, which a player of her capacity should do every game. (dodgy attitude).

10. Frankie, a good left winger who should score some more goals, played a great game against Chaddy end, needs to believe in her own abilities a bit more. Skilful at times. (missed Bolton game).

11. Whitby, very skilful player, confident on ball and provides a lot of assists. Awesome game against Chaddy end, (my player of the match). A bit more pace would be nice, poor for her standards against Bolton.

12. Lucy, best player on team for using both left and right feet in front of goal, one week brilliant, next week quiet. Overall very happy with her performance, good team player. Great goals per game ratio

13. Jess, Battle by name and Battle by nature, amazing player that runs her socks off every game. Amazing strike rate per game ratio, only comment is she sometimes lashes at the ball, take a quick look at the goal before pulling the trigger. Very unlucky not to score against Bolton, hit the same post twice in 15 minutes. (doh).

14. Holly, This was Holly’s first game for Lisbon and she put in a very solid, hard working performance, runs at opposition, causing problems, and a good passer of the ball. Unlucky not to score, but great debut performance.

This was Bolton’s worse defeat of the season, and a very happy but not brilliant Lisbon team, were well worthy winners, After today’s result we defiantly know we have a team capable of competing in the Lancashire league.

Well done on an amazing weekend of football. Dave, Claire & Pat
