09 Sep 2006: Lisbon St Antonys 7-3 Stockport County (HT 3-3)

(Editor’s note: the report was written a week after the event and Hanaan hopes she got the goals in the right order. And the colours are her choice but I fixed a couple of spelling mistakes, and I’ll fill in the missing stats at the end when I find them).

Lisbon Girls v Stockport County

This was the first Lisbon match for newcomers Ozzie girls (Hanaan, Aphra, Lucy & Frankie) and Broadheath girls (Laura & Jess)! They were quite nervous but they managed to get through the game! The girls really wanted to win this game; we played on a rather large pitch, the largest pitch that we would have to play on all season, the other pitches would be a lot smaller than this one (that's what I was told anyway!). Patrick had told us that Stockport were quite good, so we had to play our very best.

In net to start off with, we had Ria, the back four were Aphra, Robyn, Beth and Laura. In midfield we had Fred, Hanifa, Whitby and Frankie and finally we had Lucy and Jess upfront. The subs were Hanaan, April and Joely.

We had kick-off, everyone was ready, the whistle blew, Fred started with the ball she ran towards the goal, she then passed the ball to Hanifa who dribbled her way past the Stockport girls, she passed it to Jess who took a shot of goal, but the goalie saved it, Jess got the rebound and the ball went…IN THE BACK OF THE NET!!! 1-0 to Lisbon!!

Stockport's kick, was passed to no.4 who ran towards the goal but Robyn tackled her and passed it to Hanifa, she dribbled passed 2 players then passed it to Whitby, she ran up the flank and crossed it in. Jess got the ball and shot right in the corner of the net!! 2-0 to Lisbon!!

Stockports kick…again. They cleverly passed the ball through our defence and ran towards our goal, but Ria saved the shot and kicked it out to Lucy, but unfortunately a Stockport player got in front of her and kicked the ball to no.6, she ran past Robyn and Hanaan, they chased after her but she passed it to no.8 who ran towards the net and shot to the of the net. 2-1.

Lisbon kick. Fred passed to Hanifa who passed it to Frankie, she ran towards the goal dribbling passed the players, then passed the ball to Lucy who passed it to Jess, she ran passed the defenders and kicked the ball into the net!! 3-1 to Lisbon!!

Before half time Stockport managed to score 2 more goals , so the score at half time was 3-3.

Second half: The subs came on (Hanaan, April & Joely).

Stockport had kick off. They passed it to their midfield chipped it over the defence the no.8, the ref blew offside. Robyn took the free kick, she kicked it to April, she ran towards goal but then quickly passed the ball to Fred at the edge of the box, she shot from near the corner flag and the ball went right to the top of the net…IN the net!! 4-3 to Lisbon!!

Stockports kick off, no.6 passed it to no.4 who ran up the field and shot, but it went wide. Ria took the kick, and it went to Hanifa, she ran all the way up the field but unfortunately got tackled but the ball got won back by Hanifa and she carried on towards the goal and booted the ball into the back of the net!! 5-3 to Lisbon!!!

Stockport took their kick very quickly and very soon were running right at the goal, they shot but Ria saved it with her foot, and it went back out to the halfway line, a Stockport player got the ball (no.6) and ran towards the corner flag and tried to cross it in but Hanaan managed to kick it out of her feet, Stockport corner.

They took a short corner no.8 tired to shoot but Hanifa got the ball off her and sprinted down the pitch towards the goal, she then passed it to Ria who went in front of the net and shot!!! She scored!! 6-3 to Lisbon Girls!! (Ria had come out of net and Laura went in)

Stockport kick (once again!), no.5 ran down the right flank but Aphra got stuck in and brought the ball out and passed it to Lucy, who then passed it to Frankie, and she then passed it to Lucy who had a quick touch an passed it straight to April, she ran to the left hand-side of the net and shot from the corner…and it went in!!!!

Final score: Lisbon Girls 7-3 Stockport County!!
