After the end of the League season, the team went in for a couple of tournaments. The biggest was the Umbro International held at Manchester University's sports grounds between Chorlton Water Park and the M60. How would we do playing two hard games each day for 4 days after a long arduous season? Well, it was a learning experience! We did very well at first but the girls didn't realise that they needed to conserve their energies between games and take care of themselves and by the end we were knackered or crippled and couldn't field a full team. The American and Canadian teams were very impressive with their fitness and speed - I thought we were the fittest team I'd seen until I saw them. Still, we did well and learnt a lot, especially how to play with 10 players then 9 then 8 players in a final.
