Lisbon’s plans were ruined today as Woodbank arrived with only 7 players, a sympathetic David decided that we would play 9 v 7, and move players about. A nervous Bethany started in net, with Joely, Robyn and Aphra at the back, Laura in the holding role, Whitby on the right, Hanifa in the middle and Fred on the left, upfront was Jess. The substitutes were made every 5 - 10 minutes so that every one had a good run out.
When the game commenced Lisbon looked good using width with surprise, surprise, only just after 5 mins Jess was the 1st player to put Lisbon ahead! With a great assist from Hanifa, 1-0. This was also time to make a substitute for Lisbon, with Ria coming in to play upfront; and with only a few seconds on the pitch Ria had left the goalkeeping boots at home and put on her striking boots to leather the ball into the back of the net with an assist from once again Hanifa. 2-0. It didn’t take long before Ria polished her boots again to nicely secure the 3rd goal for Lisbon with a surprise assist from Laura!! On 25 minutes 3-0. The last goal of the 1st half came from the captain Fred who scored a terrific goal assisted by once again you know who, Hanifa. 4-0 at half time.
In the second half, Aphra went in goal to the relief of Bethany. At the back was Bethany, Laura and Robyn, in the holding role was Ria, Hanifa centre mid and Jess and Whitby changing left to right with Fred upfront. Again subs were made every 5 - 10 mins. The 1st goal of the second half was only just 5 mins in with another assist from Laura with a spectacular goal from Hanifa. 5-0. On 48 and 50 minutes the captain completed her superb hat trick. The 1st goal was assisted by Whitby and the 2nd was a wonder goal from the captain.6-0 & 7-0.
On 55 minutes Woodbank tested the goal keeping skills on Aphra who disappointedly let the ball into the back of the net, 7-1. We all thought she was being sympathetic towards a 7 sided Woodbank. On 60 minutes Hanifa was set up by Jess to secure her 2nd of the game, 8-1. A much more consistent Lucy kept on pushing all game to finally secure her name on the score sheet with a superb goal on 62 minutes with the 4th assist of the day from Hanifa, 9-1. On 65 minutes a much pressurising Jess leapt on the chance from one of the Woodbank girls mistakes as she got her 2nd goal of the day assisted by a Woodbank defender!!. 10-1. After missing roughly around 8 chances Laura finally got her long awaited goal on 67 minutes for Laura’s 1st goal for Lisbon, 11-1. Well done. For the last goal of the game, we ended brilliantly with Hanifa getting her well deserved hat trick on 69 minutes assisted by Whitby. The end result was Lisbon 12 Woodbank 1.
Another great performance from Lisbon playing extremely well as a team, as players were switched about in their positions, all the girls played their best in different roles. We are getting closer to our first clean sheet though, keep up the good work.
